Members expressed shared frustration over hearing dismissive advice like "just get out more" or "drink more water" from people who don't understand the debilitating reality of fibromyalgia, with many describing how friends, family, and even doctors minimize their pain as laziness or something that can be fixed with simple lifestyle changes. Several members shared that while some close family and friends have learned over time to respect their limitations, others still don't grasp the unpredictable and exhausting nature of flare-ups that can leave them homebound or needing rescue. A recurring theme was the wish that skeptics could experience just one of their worst fibromyalgia days to truly understand the agonizing pain and how it robs them of the active lives they desperately want to live.

I know, I get weird looks parking in the handicap spaces. But yet I will see a really heavy person in the carts. At least I walk.

I get told all the time by my GP to get out and walk more? I would run a darn marathon if I could, I wish he and so many others would understand the agonising pain and how draining it it for us. Sometimes I wish I had a magic wand and zap these peeps so they could have fibro for a day (one of our worst days of course). Grr to them.

My Chiropractor has Fibromyalgia, and I’m glad he shared it with me. He said sometimes it takes him 2 weeks to recover from playing 18 holes of golf.
