I also have degenerative disc disease in my spine and osteo along with fibro divaticulitis.. DDD is very painful but I have had nothing done and take no meds..arthritis in neck and hands..
Went to ortho last week. If you have a few vertebrae together they can fuse them to stop from moving and pinching nerves. My Niece had it done and they can do the 1/2 inch laser surgery now and you can walk out of hospital that night
expect all tests to be normal and for them to tell you you have arthritic changes.
I have DDD, degenerative disc disease. I could have surgery but with all the things I have in conjunction with it, my GP/PCP and I don't feel surgery is a good idea. Surgery would most likely cause a major fibro and arthritis flare up that may not go away. Plus, I've had problems with anesthesia in the past. I just don't think it's worth the risk at this point. Some day, I may have not choice but I do right now.
@A MyFibroTeam Member - I have had to go to the spine doctor. I fell and crushed two vertebraT6 and T7. I had the surgery where they removed the crushed vertebra and replace a cement of some kind. Went in for 7:00 AM and was back home by noon. Did not feel a thing. What relief!!! I would literally scream in pain and then I would not be able to talk. It is in and out and you feel like a new person.
God Bless - it is great to feel so good.
