Members shared their experiences with sharp chest pains that felt like potential heart attacks, with many discovering their symptoms were actually costochondritis (inflammation of cartilage around the ribs) or fibromyalgia-related muscle spasms rather than cardiac issues. Several members described frightening trips to the emergency room and extensive testing that ruled out heart and lung problems, with one member finding relief through stretching to pop the sternum cartilage and others managing symptoms with muscle relaxers or Valium. A recurring theme was the importance of getting properly evaluated by a doctor or cardiologist to rule out serious cardiac problems first, while also recognizing that chronic chest pain is a common and terrifying symptom of fibromyalgia and lupus that many in the community experience regularly.

Definitely check with your doctor to rule out heart related problems. I get pains in my chest and ribs quite often. They told me it is called chondritis. It is like muscle around your ribcage having severe spasms. I felt like i was having heartattack too. There is not much to help the pain other than muscle relaxers. I hope this eases your mind alittle but you should get tests done by a cardiologist to be safe. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs.

I just looked it up and it is the inflamation of the cartilage between the ribs and breastbone! I thought i was the only one who had it. It seems i am discovering something new everyday!😏

I recently read an article about many fibro. patients having costochrondritis. I dont know much. Perhaps you may find an online paper. Or... Maybe someone right here may know. I hope you get relief soon.

Yes, I have joint popping all the time. Especially my knees. Sometimes I be afraid to fall asleep due to chest aches. I just pray we all get better from this.
