Members shared widespread experiences with dry and itchy eyes related to fibromyalgia, with most finding relief through daily use of preservative-free artificial tears and allergy eye drops like Alaway. Several members recommended practical solutions including Lactoferrin supplements to support natural eye lubrication, air purifiers and humidifiers to reduce environmental triggers, and rotating eye drop brands every few weeks to prevent irritation. A recurring theme was the challenge of wearing contact lenses with chronic dry eyes and the importance of using gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers like Cetaphil or Aveeno for accompanying dry, itchy skin.

I have had dry and itchy eyes for years. I use eye drops for allergies (alaway) is what I use and liquid tears when needed. If you need to use artificial tears, I would recommend using the individual vials because they don't use any preservatives. I found out the hard way that a lot of people are allergic to the preservatives. I had a horrible allergic reaction to them. Good luck and I hope it helps.

I use eye drops too. I also bought two air purifiers; one for the living room & one for my bedroom. This took care of the itchy eyes.

I use eye drops as well. I tend to wake up with headaches because my one eye gets very dry. Have you tried both a humidifier and the air purifier in your bedroom? I have the air purifier all the time but humidifier during the times of the year when it gets dry. I use systane ultra but there is also a type of systane that is really thick and I used to use that overnight and that helped. I found my dry eyes are more from having lasik and going through menopause - but perhps it may also have something to do with FM.
