Members discussed how diet affects fibromyalgia differently for each person, with the overwhelming consensus being that an elimination diet is the best way to identify personal triggers rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Several members shared their own problematic foods, including alcohol (which many noted caused flare-ups lasting days), processed foods, sugar, gluten, dairy, nightshade vegetables, red meat, and caffeine, though some emphasized they could tolerate items like dairy and gluten just fine. A recurring theme was the encouragement to be patient with trial and error, listen to what your body is telling you, and not get frustrated during the process of discovering your unique dietary needs.

I was told to avoid caffeine, citrus fruits, lemon juice and tomatoes. Decaf is fine, but do let other people know it is decaf tea or coffee as some people suffer with headaches. Also sugar is a no.

Hope this helps.

From my own experience, red onions are a no no. Which is terrible because I love them and still eat them! I just know what I'm in for. Milk/ice cream as well, and I am not lactose intolerant. Red meat causes issues. Bread/wheat in excess. ALCOHOL is a major pain. Drinking will send me straight into a flare for days. I used to think I just got week long hangovers! I don't drink anymore because I'm afraid of the aftermath. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If I think of any more ill add.
