Members shared their experiences navigating the confusing overlap between Lyme disease and fibromyalgia symptoms, with several describing sensations like bugs crawling on skin, electrical shocks, and leg vibrations as common to both conditions. Many members expressed frustration with the diagnostic process, noting that standard blood tests often miss Lyme disease, requiring expensive specialized testing through Lyme-literate doctors, and that some people initially diagnosed with fibromyalgia later found relief after Lyme treatment. A recurring theme was the exhausting challenge of distinguishing which condition is causing which symptom, the lack of understanding from both medical professionals and others, and the importance of seeking proper testing to avoid treating the wrong condition.

I was diagnosed with Lyme disease at first I had all of the symptoms the bite, the rash all of it but blood tests didn't show it but the blood tests you get from a gp won't show it anyway so after a couple of years with varying symptoms daily they diagnosed fibro and ME . .either way you just have to get on with it and hope for the good days!

Fibro is like that for sure. It's the nerves doing their little spasms.

I have that too and have Lyme disease but I'm tired of blaming all my symptoms on lyme if it could be something else . It's so hard to tell what's what anymore.

But I know a lot of people get misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia when they really have lyme and after treatment they are fine . Can't hurt to look into it.
