Members confirmed that Horizant is an extended-release version of gabapentin, which also goes by brand names like Neurontin, Gralise, and Neurapatine. Several members shared their personal experiences with these medications, describing side effects including significant weight gain, excessive drowsiness, and skin reactions to patches, with many noting that neither gabapentin nor Lyrica provided effective pain relief for them. A recurring theme was that everyone's body chemistry is different, making it essential to advocate for yourself, listen to your own body's signals, and be willing to try different options until you find what works best for your individual needs.

Yes it is. My daughter was prescribed it, but made her too drowsy all the time. I was prescribed Lyrica, but was like a walking zombie and had to stop it. My insurance wouldn't approve Butrans, now my doctor wants to change me to Nucynta ER because Percocet no longer works. I'm very hesitant to try it.

I’m sure the doctor knew. I tried Gabapentin years ago and it didn’t help, but for some reason the doctor felt like the extended release would help. I gained 60 pounds from Lyrica. I tried Butrans, but I’m allergic to adhesive tape and it burned my skin.

Horizant is the extended release version of Gabapentin. It didn’t help me. Lyrica didn’t help me either. I’m at a loss as to what I should try next.
