Does anyone who takes Gabapentin find that it has improved their mood? I started taking it one month ago and I find that I have a little more ambition and feel like I'm in a better mood overall.

Members shared mixed experiences regarding whether gabapentin improved their mood, with some reporting feeling mellower, more relaxed, or experiencing reduced anxiety, while others noticed no mood benefits or even felt irritable when starting the medication. Several members described significant side effects including weight gain, tremors, balance issues, neuropathy, confusion, and vision problems, with dosages ranging from low doses to 1800mg daily, and many noted that the medication didn't adequately relieve their fibromyalgia or nerve pain. A recurring theme was the importance of finding the right combination of medications, with members discussing how gabapentin worked better alongside antidepressants like Cymbalta, Prozac, or Wellbutrin, and emphasizing that individual responses vary widely based on dosage, manufacturer quality, and personal body chemistry.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Cymbalta did not help my pain either it just helps with sleep and anxiety so I keep taking it. Have you gone to a pain clinic?

my doc prescribed gabapentin (Neurontin) and cymbalta together. Neurontin is used as an anti-depressant, as well as, for nerve pain. Cymbalta is used as an anti-depressant-anxiety as well as nerve pain. So they worked really well together for me.

I take Gabapentin, but I need a certain manufacture. It's a generic to Neurontin and I find my Pharmacy keeps getting the cheapest manufacture, which can be up to 20% difference in contents.....As for the better mood, I don't have that. It might be due to my high Anxiety, depression or my back issues. I have found that Gabapentin can be used as a mood stabilizer, along with other uses it has. Glad you're feeling good. Take Care and gentle hugs.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm so sorry that leaves you with nothing. Have you tried Cymbalta? What were the bad side effects of Ganapentin if I may ask?
