I recently came across an article that suggested a link between concussion and Fibro. I have had 2 major concussions before so I am really interested in this theory...

Members enthusiastically connected over the question of whether concussions might be linked to fibromyalgia, with many sharing histories of one or more head injuries ranging from childhood falls and sports accidents to car crashes and abuse. Several members described timelines where fibromyalgia symptoms began months or even years after their concussions, with some recalling that chronic pain, migraines, and joint achiness started in adolescence following their first head trauma. A recurring theme was the belief that physical trauma, prolonged stress, or traumatic childhood experiences may all contribute to fibromyalgia, with members expressing gratitude for the shared article and appreciation that more research is being done to understand the disease.

I know I had one from snowboarding a few years back. I was abused as a child so could have more than I know of? !?
I talked to my Rhumi yesterday, and he also said people who are very flexible tend to get fibro as well. That is the first I have heard of that. I have always been just naturally flexible. I dunno.. It's cool that more is coming out about this which mean people are putting more effort into researching this disease.

I also suffered a concussion a few years ago. I had not heard of any correlation between the two, so thank you for sharing/asking!

I used to do ballet, jazz and contemporary dancing for years and I was always naturally flexible so that is also a really fascinating theory. I also read that if you were exposed to a long period of time of stress (eg. traumatic childhood), or a traumatic event (physically or mentally) then that could also contribute to the Fibro. I tick all of the above and it sounds like you might as well. I think there really could be something to it....

Ive had two also! The first one when I was 12. I just recently went back and thought..."when did my chronic pain and symptoms start?" After really researching and gaining so much knowledge about Fibro...I looked back to growing up...with my migraines starting at 12....then chronic back pain...which I thought was just from having big breats at that age....then high school came...and was exempt from gym due to asthma...but also I was suffering from chronic pain in back...and achiness in my joints and feet. I saw some Drs about it and then just said I needed orththodics and to wear a knee brace. Also in my senior year of high school i was in two car accidents faulted by friends who were driving. One in a van flipping over with no seat belt on...with no physical injuries and didn't go to hospital to get checked...so could have had another one there....and the 2nd was a month later...again no seatbelt and head hitting dashboard and knocked me unconscious for like an hour. I didn't really have any other injuries so I didn't think it was affecting my body at the time. I continued to have...what I now know are Fibro symptoms since then. i also had other concussion in June of 2004 and Jan 2014...which was probably the worst one. My Dr. was telling me for a few years that he thight I had Fibro but needs further tests and I would just ignore it. Throughout that year I started to really having (what I know now to be all the Fibro symptoms)..but again ...i never heard of it so didn't know what it was. I would always put off going to Drs...but finally it got to be too much to our handle and by Apr 2015..so I went to Dr. he said again that's thinks I had Fibro...and a month later it all crashed down on me! So personally I definitely think it's related. As articles and sites say they think trauma is one of main causes!

I have had several concussions. The most recent one resulted in Post Concussive Disorder. It sucked in massive ways.
