I collapsed earlier on and banged my ribs ever so slightly against a wooden box. Later on I collapsed again and banged the same ribs against my mattress.

Now I am doubled over I. Pain is it normal for pain to be so severe with a slight touch ?

Members rallied around someone experiencing frequent collapses and severe rib pain after falls, with many validating that even light touch can cause intense pain due to fibromyalgia's amplified pain response, and several sharing their own experiences of broken or bruised ribs being excruciating. The community strongly urged seeking medical evaluation for the collapsing episodes, expressing concern about the frequency and potential underlying causes like PoTS (heart condition), while also sharing practical coping strategies including rest, gentle movement, listening to calming sounds, and using mobility aids like wheelchairs or canes. A recurring theme was the frustration of being told to "just deal with it" by medical providers, the importance of self-advocacy when symptoms are dismissed, and the comfort of knowing others truly understand the unpredictable and often frightening nature of living with fibromyalgia.

Hi Claudine, sorry to hear that you have been having falls. Unfortunately apart from the pain due to fibro being ten times what someone without fibro suffers you also have a job to keep your balance. I have just spent the afternoon in bed as I was weaving all over the place and it was safer to go and lie down. I hope that you haven't done any real damage to your yourself. Just take it easy and if the pain continues get yourself to the doctors. πŸ’πŸ€•πŸ˜– xx

@A MyFibroTeam Member I do find that the slight touch or pressure or bumps can cause severe pain and is a huge symptom of fibro. The other day I was sat next to my husband on the sofa and he rest his elbow on my leg.. not even putting any pressure, but it soon felt like he was pushing a blunt knife into my leg!! And then leaning against the table.. the edge of the table was pushing slightly into my side under my ribs.. it started to hurt so bad!!!! Such a crazy condition.

@A MyFibroTeam Member. I’m going to doctors tomorrow but if it gets worse I’ll go to the hospital regarding the pain.
I collapse on a regular basis every day, the doctors are aware.

I’m under investigation about it already , there is a possibility I have a problem with my heart. Getting queried for having PoTs.
But if it comes back clear it’s getting put down to having fibro & muscles being tired ( that’s another idea the hospital came up with )

Thank you for your concern.
I hope your well & are having a low pain day.

Sending love and gentle hugs ❀️ xx

@A MyFibroTeam Member please seek some medical evaluation as collapsing is serious and to collapse on more than one occasion gives me great concern
I don’t want to alarm you but it’s safer to have a check over even if only for piece of mind

You could have done some damage to your ribs during these episodes

Please let me know how you get on
