Members overwhelmingly confirmed a strong connection between fatigue and pain in fibromyalgia, with many describing it as a vicious cycle where pain causes exhaustion and exhaustion worsens pain, making it difficult to determine which comes first. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them manage this cycle, including seeing a sleep specialist to diagnose underlying sleep disorders, using a CPAP machine, identifying and controlling personal triggers, taking frequent cat naps, wearing hand braces at night, and being adamant with doctors about finding answers rather than simply accepting more pills. A recurring theme was the importance of quality sleep in reducing pain levels, the added challenge of mental health affecting both fatigue and pain simultaneously, and the need for self-advocacy and persistence in finding what works individually since no single solution fits everyone.

Kind of makes sense because fatigue is a stress to our bodies, and the fm flares with stress.
Also, when I'm in a lot of pain, I feel more fatigued. Seems like a chicken and egg type of dilemma.

Most definitely! When I am in pain I am exhausted. I can't think straight, I get forgetful, I get hot flashes. I even have a hard time talking and getting my sentences out straight. Oh the lovely things caused by Fibromyalgia.πŸ’•

I have the fatigue, sleep issues and pain. We have been having 3 digit weather this week. I thought I would be better, while that has not been the case. My fatigue has been high and my sleep has not been good. We have air conditioning, but that seems to bring up more issues.
It's like you feel better when it isn't wet and cold, thinking if I were warmer and drier I would be ok. That does not seem to be happening. It is like a vicious circle and that fact seems to add more stress.
I heard here that a person had the pain in their arms and hands. I have the same pain, while I also have my hands go to sleep. I wear a brace on hands at night and if I don't I there is no sleep.

I want to send hugs out to all my team members. I find communicating here with all of you, does help me to feel like there is hope for us. We have to keep going and help those who are worse off than we are.

Fatigue and pain definitely go together for me. I have a hard time going into a deep sleep, so if I turn over and it hurts, it wakes me up.

Mental health effects both pain and fatigue levels too. Low mood worse pain more fatigued. Triple whammy xx
