Yes I have improved my situation by at least 80%.
This November will be my two year diagnosis. But I know I had it about nine months before that.
Before fibro my life was so wonderful and I was so active. Loved and played a lot of sports, loved my job as a nurse and had a very social life with my husband, kids, eight grandchildren, and friends. Then my life just turned hellish with unbearable pain that comes with fibromyalgia. After my diagnosis my doctor gave me gabapentin, savella, lyrica, and percocet. ( I should mention that I took them at different times when each one failed to work). Not only did they not work but I felt worse every day.
September of last year with the help and support of my husband I decided that I was going off all drugs and I would find whatever it took to battle this horrible condition naturally.
Believe me, it was a sheer leap of faith.
To make a long story short, a gifted acupuncturist, combined with massage, epson salts bath daily, diet changes, keeping myself out of high stress situations, exercise ( and it was horrible at first but now it's been great), and 9-10 hours of sleep at night has decreased my pain significantly.
This did not all happen overnight. It was a lot of work and dedication. But I am drug free and back to as much of a normal life as I can.
Rain still hurts, and over doing it some days will set me back, plus other things here and there but tomorrow is always a new day and I try to do my best to make the best of it.
Never give up to find what works the best for you. As everyone knows we are all different but maybe you can have leave a leap of faith too and try something you've never tried before. Who knows it might work! Good luck!!!

I think the most important thing that helped improve the condition for me was a matter of coming to terms with what having Fibromyalgia means. Whilst it can be most debilitating, it is important to do the things you can do. Make the most of good days, indeed celebrate the fact that you are having a good day. It is far too easy to get caught up in the negative aspects of the disorder, I can assure you I did at first too. I now try (with God's help) to enjoy as much of life as I am capable of doing.

Being kind to myself became also really important. I now allow myself to rest if I need to and not do things if I do not feel up to it. Previously I have pushed and pushed myself until I am worn out. I was brought up as not being a quitter, I don't now believe giving myself chance to recuperate is being a quitter, but being sensible.

I have also found limiting medication has worked well for me. I made the decision not to take the Mega doses of anticonvulsants prescribed as these were disabling me further via turning me into a zombie. Albeit fibromyalgia creates tiredness and fatigue, I found the drugs made it worse for me. When the pain is at its worst I use Tramadol for a quick fix, mainly I find I can find ways of distracting myself from the pain during the day, but if at its worst at night I can not get by without the Tramadol. Again I use the Tramadol as little as possible. There are times when I do have to use Tramadol during the day, this tends to be on those days I need to be kind to myself.

I know this won't be right for everyone but it has improved things for me.

Yes I have! I moved to a dryer climate with less humidity, use medical marijuana, talk therapy, chiropractor, acupunture, an organic low sugar caffeine free nongmo gluten free diet (and elimating nightshade veggies), exercise, but honestly the best thing I have found is natural hot spring soaking and the Melt Method. Melt helped get rid of most of my pain which gave me more energy because my body wasn't sooo overtaxed with pain. I have also been on a mission to eliminate all chemicals and toxins from my food, personal care products and household cleaners. I also use essential oils. As I have proceeded on this journey I have felt more like BD (before diagnosis) self, been in less pain and have eliminated ALL prescription drugs from my regimen (I was up to 15 different prescriptions) I have come to the conclusion that Drs treat symptoms, they don't cure people. Different thing work for different people-just keep searching and trying new things to see what works best for you! 😊 never give up! Never surrender! You know your body best, and when you find the combo of things that work for you it will change your life!

Some days when the pain is moderate to no pain, I get busy doing light tasks. I found moving about at a slow pace helps. Also, my mind is on what I'm doing and off the pain

I first seen signs if improvement after I divorced my husband (big stressor), then finally found a combination of meds that worked for me, n learned my limitations. It took a while, but im doing a lot better then I was years ago.
