Keto Diet For Chronic Inflammation
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Not a ? I've have severe fibro for over 20 years. Tried everything... medications, supplements (which helped some) but the Keto Diet is a must! I only joined this in the hope that sharing this would help others. I have been in the keto diet for inflammation since Easter 2017. My inflammation has diminished so much and my energy level has increased exponentially! I feel better than I've felt in 20 years. If you feel hopeless and have been in so much pain that you e contemplated suicide, you've… read more

Do you have other conditions besides fibro? The other thing is that fibro doesn't cause inflamation.

I have just started on a keto diet. I have a friend whose MS has been in remission for 20 years since starting her diet. I have been mostly grain free for 25 years due to IBS and allergies. My inflammation is actually quite low but my fibro amplifies all inflammation pain from my mild arthritis and degenerative disc disease. So much that in the last 2.5 years I've had 9 cortisone injections, mostly in neck. I am hoping this diet will bring me to a point where I no longer rely on such intense treatment. Also, since moving from 9300 feet to 7000 feet I have an extra 10 lbs that I haven't been able to lose thru exercise or Diet. I will let you know how it goes for me and what symptoms of my fibromyalgia have been affected or not! Thanks for the original post it is yet another reinforcement for making good Lifestyle Changes. By the way my understanding of a keto diet is that it does not limit fresh food at all in fact I tend to eat more and better vegetables. Raspberries and blueberries are fine as well. Keto is not an unhealthy diet it just has no grain or high starch or sugar foods. And healthy fats that can be converted into energy once entering ketosis.

Hi all,
Thanks for sharing. It's great that you found something that works for you🤗 And alleviates inflammation.

Sorry but I am not a fan of low carb diets. My body does not like it. I was a middle distance runner, trained with the army & love sport. But that is just me. Nutrition is a great subject, diets tailored to the individual and their activity levels. 🤗

Fibro does in fact cause fascia and systemic inflammation. Anti inflammatories don't seem to help me and others but chronic inflammation is common in fibro patients. If you doubt this search fibro and inflammation. It's amazing what the new studies are finding. Now if they could just find a cure... right? Good luck to you!
