Has anyone lost their appetite? I have had little to no appetite for a year now. I started smoking weed to help me eat but now even that doesn't help enough. Doctors have done blood tests and X-rays... nothing came up to explain why I can't eat. I feel almost like morning sickness or motion sickness all the time. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Peace and love to all of you

Members shared widespread experiences of losing their appetite over months or even a year, often accompanied by persistent nausea that makes eating feel like a chore despite genuine hunger. Several members recommended practical strategies including meal replacement shakes like Slim Fast or Huel for essential nutrients, green smoothies packed with fruits and vegetables, and focusing on foods they genuinely crave rather than forcing balanced meals. A recurring theme was the role of depression and emotional toll from chronic illness in suppressing appetite, with members offering encouragement to take it one day at a time and reassurance that this struggle is real and not a choice.

I have experienced loss of appetite for the past year or so..everyone is always on my case about not eating..honestly I believe it's caused from the depression that comes with the diagnosis.. I know for me it's hard to get my mind to believe I can't do as much as I used to.

I got this either about a couple of month ago. Interestingly I loose little weight considering that I almost eat nothing for an adult man! Eating now become a nightmare for me! This disease is really weird with shocking and also interesting gifts every now and then!

I've had the same problem. Often nauseated, very low appetite, worried about not getting enough nutrients. The fact is, since I move a lot less, I don't spend a lot of energy, it's quite normal to be less hungry. Plus nausea doesn't help. As the others suggested you could take some meal substitute shakes, but I suggest you talk to your pharmacist to pick the right one for you since there are many different kinds! But what helped me the most is choosing food that I really want to eat. My diet wasn't the most balanced and healthiest it could be but at least I was eating more! Hope this helps, take care!

Depressed? (can be the case even if you don't register it) Maybe even the nausea which in my experience can come as part of 'the Fibro package deal'...
This random appetite thing happens to me all the time... it's odd to be aware of deep hunger yet food is still a no-go...

There's probably a bunch of direct/indirect Fibro related causes, none of which will show in tests. As Cathy advised, for now get something with all the nutrients you're otherwise missing that can be made into a drink; Slim Fast, Weight Gain (whey protein etc), Huel... any or either that's marketed as a supplement or replacement for meals will help fill the gaps for now.
Just be sure to let your doctor know you're strategising in case of any dietary or med related clashes.
