Regardless of what I might "truly have" I want to get some opinions on this, because I am really unsure regardless of taking Cymbalta for my physical pain. Do these pills (overall, not just Cymbalta) really help with the pain? What are your experiences? Are there other treatments for Fibro? I am honestly not looking forward to taking another antidepressant, since my experience with the Lexapro generic was far from pretty. Any advice/help would be much appreciated!

Members shared mixed experiences with antidepressants for fibromyalgia pain, with many emphasizing that finding the right medication is a highly individual process of trial and error. Several members reported positive results with combinations like gabapentin and Celexa, Zoloft for back pain, and Cymbalta for reducing overall pain levels, while others warned about severe withdrawal difficulties with Cymbalta and recommended researching side effects carefully before starting. A recurring theme was the importance of patience and persistence in finding what works, with members offering encouragement to keep trying different options and noting that some medications help more with mood and sleep than direct pain relief.

Like she said above, it is different for everyone, but I can tell you what has worked & not worked for me.... I have been taking Zoloft for 20 years for depression & anxiety, but have gone off briefly a few times. Most recently I weaned off Zoloft to try Lyrica... bad, bad side effects after it built up in my system. So my doc switched me to Cymbalta, then to Effexor... same bad zombie-like effects with them all!! So, I went back to Zoloft & within two days started to feel "normal" again. That old saying applies, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I truly hope you find what works for you, it is pretty much trial & error. God bless. Susan

have you heard of kratom? it's a crap shoot with meds. some work great for some people. some are a nightmare. I've taken lots of treatments and still take prescribed meds but adding kratom has been a great experience.

@A MyFibroTeam Member That sounds so horrible, I do hope you found a much better treatment my dear. I am researching more of it right now as I am typing this, and I did as soon as I read your comment and the stories honestly scare me, I can only imagine the effects of this drug, since from what I read Lexapro gave me a preview of that. I still don't fully understand though why doctors insist on these pills when they could effect a person so badly. Thank you so much for your time and comment love!

I was on Cymbalta for a year and a half. It only helped with my anxiety but stopped working so I weaned off. It was a NIGHTMARE getting off of it. Please read all the side effects....also Google "Cymbalta ruined my life" some really scary stories about this toxic drug

I take Cymbalta,Desperamine and Norco so far it does help except when I get a flare. But it is a trial and error kind of thing. Lyrica did not help me. But the Desperamine helps with sleep and depression. I changed my pain med. recently because I guess taking the same one for a long time does not work as good.
