I need some recommendations please. As you are aware, because I am here :-) , I have fibromyalgia. I also had a back fusion on 3 vertebrae in October 2016. I have nerve damage in my legs that I am still working on and some back pain, but not nearly as bad as before the surgery. I need to get some weight off of me and I am worried about getting the wrong kind of workout tape (and wasting even more $$$ on something I cant do). Does anyone have any suggestions for workout DVDs that someone with my… read more

Members offered thoughtful recommendations for someone with fibromyalgia and recent back fusion surgery seeking safe exercise options to lose weight. Several members strongly advocated for yoga, particularly YouTube channels like Yoga with Adriene, with one member sharing an inspiring story of losing over 130 pounds through yoga and Weight Watchers despite having six bulging discs and fibromyalgia. A recurring theme was starting gently with stretching, low-impact walking, or Arthritis Foundation DVDs designed for people with physical limitations, while managing expectations that weight loss may improve nerve pain but not necessarily fibromyalgia symptoms.

Yoga is so very important. I was over 320 pounds and my first yoga class was what saved my life. I have 6 bulging discs, fibro and a LOT of other stuff (degenerative disc and joint disease, arthritis, sciatica, etc) and the BEST thing I found was yoga. I'm not a self taught yogi that can do aerial yoga. It was a long journey, but I've lost over 130+ pounds now and I can't say enough for Weight Watchers. I didn't have to even exercise to get the weight off. It came off with teaching myself how to eat again. It allows you to eat anything you want, just in moderation. It literally completely changed the outcome of my life.

You might want to check the Arthritis Foundation site. They have several exercise DVD's that are geared for people who are physically challenged by various forms of arthritis.

I do yoga on YouTube when I don't go to my studio. I go to adriene's channel, she has probably 200 videos, different levels of difficulty, 5 min - 60

Someone suggested the 28 day diet, more like an eating plan and lifestyle change.
I have tried it and was down 6kgs in the 1st week of detox.
But, honestly, it hasn't improved the pain

Thank you SMC and TeeRexa!!!!!! I was doing Jenny Craig but it got sooooo expensive and I still had to shop for the house. Weight Watchers is always a great program. I really need to move right now and I am thinking yoga is the way to go!!!
Thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
