Members strongly connected over the question about finding normal household noises irritating, with many describing heightened sensitivity to sound as a common fibromyalgia symptom that can feel physically overwhelming, like an electric shock through the body or an inability to process any added stress. Several members shared practical coping strategies, including retreating to quiet rooms when overwhelmed, wearing sunglasses for light sensitivity, seeking silence during car rides, and recognizing that noise sensitivity often worsens before a flare-up. A recurring theme was the frustration of loved ones not fully understanding these sensitivities, with many expressing the emotional toll of needing quiet while living with family members who talk loudly, play music, or turn on every light, leaving them feeling unheard and wishing for more empathy around their symptoms.

I thought it was just me but my husband eats crunchy granola for breakfast a and I could scream at him for the noise it makes. I have tinnitus as well

I stay so irritated I could scream. Between every little noise and constant pain is actually putting me over the edge. I may sound mean but I can't stand being around any of my family members. Anyone else feel like this.

I live with a husband and 3 year old granddaughter that talk very loud and my husband loves to turn on every light in the house😩. I fuss all the time about it and he just couldn't understand why... so I found article stating that those were two symptoms of fibro. He's knows that now although he still talks very loud and turns on the lights everywhere. I find it so annoying and it really bothers me. Just wish he could really take the things I tell him seriously about this illness. He stills expects me to be the superwoman that he married😢

Yes, they do. I find I just want to hibernate in my own little quiet world. My tv hasn't worked in almost a month and I'm not even in a hurry to get one.

Have a google at startlement... we are more easily stressed by audio, but startlement is a symptom of both fibro, anxiety and PTSD
