Has anyone used a weighted blanket and how did it help you?

I absolutely love my weighted blanket. I was concerned about over heating since I struggle with temperature control. However, because the filling is a plastic type of bead (at least in the one I purchased), it actually doesnt hold in the heat at all. It has helped calm my restless and "buzzing" nervous system and get better rest. Its not a miracle, but it is a useful tool. The blankets weight is evenly distributed so I do not feel a "pain point" at any particular spot from pressure. The idea is that it calms your nervous system in a similar way swaddling a baby comforts them. I purchased mine from etsy (redbarnblankets is what I believe the shop name is). The quality is amazing. Do lots of research and decide if its worth a try, because it is a financial investment. Consider weight, fabric (fuzzy or cotton for example), size, how often you need to move. Some nights I cant use it because my arms and legs are going through a "numb" phase and I often need to move to deal with the pins and needles. Other than that it is wonderful!!

I use a weighted blanket. It gives me a kind of tingling feeling and relaxes me. My breathing and anxiety slows down and I'm not so uptight. I love it but it doesn't work for everyone and if you get the chance to try one do that first before buying. Good luck

I am curious about this too - see, when I go to the dentist (I have severe anxiety around dentists) I ask if I can have one of their x-ray aprons lain on me while the work is being done because I find it remarkably comforting. Same at home, I have a pillow on me, then my computer on it and I can easily fall asleep lounging that way: easier than going to bed. So I would guess, for me anyway, a weighted blanket might be a very useful thing to look into at least.
