Have you tried Magnesium rub. ? It can help with pain. A soft lump could be a ganglion, so see the Dr for that one. Sometimes they can go all by themselves.

The lumps are part and parcel of FM and massaging them with Vicks or other pain relieving medication will improve it even get rid of it. @Exercise your fingers a number of times a day because the next step will be that your fingers will retract. It is caused by the thickening of the tendons and thereby shortening them. But do mention it to your doctor next time you see him. :)
