I'm a month into the fodmap elimination diet, supervised by a dietitian. I'm trying to understand if I have food triggers for ibs.

Members shared overwhelmingly positive experiences with the low FODMAP diet for managing IBS, with many discovering specific triggers like garlic, onion, lactose, gluten, and dairy through the elimination and reintroduction process recommended by Monash University's research and app. Several members described life-changing relief from severe stomach pain, bloating, and digestive distress after years of suffering, though some noted the challenge of maintaining the diet long-term and the difficulty of giving up favorite foods. A recurring theme was the importance of working with a dietitian, being patient during reintroduction, and recognizing that stress and emotions can also play a significant role in IBS flare-ups alongside food triggers.

There are 4 different kinds of food sugars that people with ibs can be sensitive to. Monash university in Australia has an app and are leaders in this research.
