How do people cope with invites to parties let alone midwinter ones? My friend is having a mid winter, outside (of all things brr) dress up party. I have said I cannot rsvp as I don't know how I will be feeling till the day, I haven't been able to tolerate the cold at all since beginning of last year so not sure what to do. I'm tempted to go for couple of hours but if I say that n I'm not up to it. . . . Sigh

Members rallied around the challenge of managing social invitations with fibromyalgia, especially in cold weather that many described as particularly difficult to tolerate since their symptoms worsened. Several members shared practical strategies for attending outdoor winter events, including wearing multiple layers with warm base layers, using heat packs or hot water bottles tucked under coats, keeping extremities covered, sipping hot tea to stay warm, and giving yourself permission to attend for just 15 minutes or whatever your body allows without guilt. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body's signals, setting boundaries without pressure, and knowing that true friends will understand if you need to decline or reschedule for a coffee date when you're feeling better.
