I'm been told by a specialist my vitamin D is half of what it should be, which came as quite a shock as I'm always out and about with my job. I'm always in vest tops. I will be speaking to my GP on Wednesday about it to see if this is another issue, as I just can't get my head round it at all. Yes I know I could take a vitamin tablet but from reading up online I shouldn't have a vitamin D problem.

Anyone else had this problem?

Members connected over the shared experience of vitamin D deficiency alongside fibromyalgia, with many expressing surprise at low levels despite regular sun exposure and discovering that fibromyalgia itself is often a root cause of the deficiency. Several members shared their treatment approaches, including high-dose prescription supplements like Fultium-D3 (often 50,000 units weekly followed by 5,000 units daily), with many noting they needed to stay on vitamin D long term since levels drop again when supplementation stops. A recurring theme was the importance of working closely with GPs to monitor vitamin levels regularly, as deficiencies in vitamin D, B12, calcium, and iron frequently go hand in hand with fibromyalgia and can worsen fatigue and other symptoms.

Before being diagnosed with fibro I was told all my symptoms could be down to vit D deficiency, which was confirmed after a blood test. I started a course of high dose vit D. 6 months to a year later my symptoms were still there and I was still deficient in vit D. That then brought the doctor to look at what else could be wrong, hence my recent fibro diagnoses.

I tell my husband that drinking fresh orange juice is good for me as it raises my vitamin c levels.
He says "Yes, I agree, but what does the vodka in it do?"
Haven't thought that through enough I reckon!
Stay strong my fellow Fibro warriors x

Yes I have a vitamin D deficiency as well as vit b, c & k, calcium & iron etc apparently it goes hand in hand with fm, but mainly vit D is the usual one. I just can't seem to do things by halves lol and apparently I'm not the only one as many people can suffer multi vit deficiencies. Hope this helps

@A MyFibroTeam Member if you can't face the loss of another pet and you feel that being outside will be beneficial then why not ask a neighbour who works & has a dog if they need any help with the dog during the day, feeding, walking etc
Why not contact an animal shelter near you and see if there's anything there you can do.
Point out right at the start that you have fibromyalgia and there maybe days you can't make but I bet that they wouldn't give a fig about that.
Stay strong my fellow Fibro warrior x

No problem. Now that you know it's a common issue in Fibro, you could always ask your gp that your levels be monitored from now on? I hope it goes well for you.
I was only formally diagnosed with Fibro & EDS in Nov 16 (although it's been suspected for some time) but I've been really unwell with m.e. Since 2012. My gp has been fabulous &
had already had me on a few courses of vit D over the last 5 yrs when my levels had really dropped but she's added it to my prescriptions long term now as advised by my Rheumatologist. I hope you find your GP to be just as accommodating. Gentle hugs x
