Does anyone else ever have phantom smells? I have been occasionally smelling peppermint as strong as smelling a vial of the oil directly under my nose for almost a year now. It usually precedes a headache, but not always. It often makes my eyes water, almost like the fumes are so strong it burns my eyes (yes, I know how strange that sounds). I sometime smell cotton candy, but my headaches are due to a c-spine that has a lot of problems .

My sense of 👃 seems to be over developed now. About 2 years. Then my sleep apnea became worse and my ENT did a catheterization of the septum and my family laughs because I can 👃 things froms 4 blocks over. On many occasions before and after the procedure I 👃 things no one else does.
I smell smoke all the time and we aren't smokers
I have experienced it too and for some weird reason it was during a therapy session and my psychologist referred to at as olfactory flashback or hallucinations ... However for me when it happens it's usually a nice soft musk ... Not sure if it is triggered same as yours though
I have an over developed sense of smell, for the last few years. It can be a good and bad at times.
