I also work in retail. Sketchers are my saviour. Will not wear anything else
Don't go cheap on the shoes as that can add to your foot pain. I would find a shoe store that deals with shoes for people with foot issues. Not sure how you would find that but maybe ask around where you live or ck the yellow pages.

I swear by Dansko clogs.
Put some aloe gel you would use for sunburn and massage into feet. Cools them down and takes away some pain!
