I was always a perfectionist and a go-getter and thrived on it, even with Fibro until I went through menopause. That, along with a stressful job situation, finally tipped me over the edge into a medical crash I haven't been able to come back from. I've seen where Fibro may be caused by abuse as a child or a stressful situation like a divorce, but I really think my perfectionism had a lot to do with it too and makes it harder to live with today when I can't do most of the things I want to do.

Thats about to change, there working on a cure and vaccine now. I was actually pretty excited to hear from EpicGenetics, the makers of The FM/a Blood Test (aka Fibromyalgia blood test) that they are going a step further. A blood test is great - yes there is one. I've written about it a couple of times in the years since it was created. I've not gotten overly excited about the blood test because, quite simply, it didn't change anything. For some of us it does, because it means that you have something to point at and say "see I really do have something", but for me it meant little, so I skipped it. However, EpicGenetics is about to up their game and put that blood test to good use. How? they are about to start enrolling people who have had a positive Fibromyalgia blood test in a new study to find and test a Fibromyalgia vaccine!(http://countingmyspoons.com/2013/03/fibromyalgi...) and here (http://countingmyspoons.com/2014/11/fibromyalgi...) . EpicGenetics, the company behind the blood test, has just released some really awesome news. ** What is the FM/a® blood test?

I have noticed in many if my groups that a good deal of us are type A. I often wonder if that is why we get hit harder with it... Just a thought.

Yip im a perfectionist and I was also abused when I was a child. I think stress/anxiety my whole life has a massive impact in contributing to Fibro.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I've debated for days whether or not to post this as arguments and stress are the last thing any of us need. However, I still feel strongly that your statement presented as fact is damaging. I've had FMS & CFS for 36 years and I've read all of the respected doctor's books and tried all of their protocols - Tietalbaum, Liptan, Murphy, and many more. I met with Mark Pellegrino who has Fibro and is an MD, and who wrote a popular book about Fibro causes and treatment. All of them state they know what causes FMS and how to treat it, yet their opinions and treatments are all different. The thought-to-be-the-basis of Fibro changes often, sometimes more than once a year as research progresses. I respect that you think you've found the answer, but I don't believe there is any one cause or treatment that will work for all of us and your definitive stance could cause many years of misery for anyone that takes your statements as gospel.

There is no ONE cause for Fibromyalgia!!! And I don't believe there is a cure or there wouldn't be so MANY support groups for people with Fibromyalgia!!
