Members shared mixed experiences with elimination diets for fibromyalgia, with several finding relief by cutting out aspartame, sugar, artificial colors, and heavily processed foods, though one member noted that going gluten-free initially boosted energy but the benefits faded after a year. Many community members described the frustrating reality that while plant-based or elimination diets sound promising for managing pain and fatigue, the energy required to plan, prepare, and stick with these diets can feel overwhelming when already struggling with symptoms. A recurring theme was the importance of experimenting individually over several weeks to identify personal triggers, as responses varied widely, from reduced numbness and tingling with gluten-free diets to improved digestion by avoiding hard-to-digest foods like red meat, strong cheese, and certain starches.

Thanks Nerik , advice is great. I find strong cheese upsets my system and I will try decafe tea ... red meat too like steak ๐Ÿ˜‰

I struggle with this as well. In theory, the idea of vegan or plant based diet sounds like it might help but the actual energy it takes to prepare these foods is difficult when you're already struggling with fatigue and pain. I would also like to know if others have had success with these types of diets regarding pain management and fatigue?

The biggest one is aspartame (diet soft drinks), sugar, caffeine, and probably wheat because it's heavily sprayed with chemicals. I don't eat meat and find the less I eat the better I feel... Nothing that takes ages to digest or causes bloating. White rice, pasta and potatoes can take a long time so I don't eat those.. Just test things out over a few weeks each.
