I am researching places to go on vacation looking at accomendations and figuring out dates that are available. The planning process is exhausting I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth it and questioning myself about having any energy to enjoy a vacation! The fibro fog is not helping! Do you ever flare from intense thinking?

Members strongly validated that mental effort and stress can trigger fibromyalgia flares, with many sharing that planning tasks like vacation arrangements, insurance calls, or paperwork leave them exhausted for days while those without fibro recover overnight. Several members offered practical strategies, including hiring a travel agent to reduce planning burden, recognizing that stress rather than thinking itself may be the true trigger, and understanding that even explaining their limitations to others adds to their recovery time. A recurring theme was the loss of joy in activities like travel that once brought excitement, the frustration of partners or family not understanding how mental tasks deplete energy, and the importance of community validation when fibro fog and fatigue make even simple planning feel overwhelming.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I hope you can get a break or get to slow down a bit. It's very frustrating when we try to explain how much it takes to do the mental stuff. Also, explaining the issue puts on more stress which is another day added to the recovery time! hugs

Staring at computer screen too long can cause a headache, eye strain. Yes, overthinking and worrying can cause a flare.

Use a travel agent. They get paid by the resort or the company they work for. If I tried to work through it my head would have exploded. Just double check with the agent as to how they get paid. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ
