Members shared mixed experiences with amitriptyline for fibromyalgia, with some finding it ineffective or experiencing side effects like grogginess, depression, and even suicidal thoughts, while others reported success at higher doses over time, though many noted it helped more with sleep than pain. Several members discussed alternative medications including Savella, which some found effective despite insurance coverage challenges, and Tramadol for pain management, with the consensus being that finding the right medication often requires patience and close collaboration with a doctor. A recurring theme was the importance of starting at low doses, giving medications time to work, and openly communicating with healthcare providers about side effects and whether a treatment is truly helping.

I don't think it's come to the UK yet. I did a quick search and I think it may be the same as prednisone? Apparently there may be problem side effects but which drug hasn't got side effects.

Really you need to try medication for a few weeks at least to see if it helps as some side effects wear off after a while. It's always best to discuss things with your Dr.

I tried it for my migraines not my FMS, however it didn't help anything.
