I take gabapentin and flexril the gabapentin at nite for sleep but i need to ask dr for something different i see spots even with my eyes closed. Im up and down all nite. Constant headaches ears ringing along w usual aches.

I tried the gabapentin, the doctor had me on an increasing dose. After 2 days, I felt like I was walking down the hallway sideways with my head spinning! Needless to say, I got off it real quick, and went back on Lyrica. I am hoping now to be a candidate for gastric bypass (just my bmi alone is 48!) I hope to be able to get off a bunch of my meds by losing over 100 lbs!

I was on gabapentin (Neurontin), and had severe weight gain (all water weight for me). When they took me off of it, they told me that Lyrica was not an option for me, since it is so closely related to gabapentin.

My experience with Lyrica was weight gain and it gave my brain The Scrambled feeling. Almost like I had dementia. I quit it the same month I started it then I went on Neurontin. The weight gain got the best of me and I quit it. That doesn't mean you will have the same problem this is just my experience with it.

psaltery, thanks! I have been roundly chewed out on some board (don't remember where) for saying that I cold only get Lyrica due to the patent. Some lady told me she was a PA as well as a fibro patient and had been taking Pregabolin now for XX years. I wish I could get the generic, but here in the US, even once the patent expire the company can take it to court and get the patent renewed for so many years, on the basis it will lose too much money if the generic becomes widely available.
