Members discussed the relationship between fibromyalgia and weight changes, with the overwhelming consensus being that weight gain is typically caused by medications like pregabalin or gabapentin rather than the illness itself, combined with reduced physical activity due to pain and fatigue. Several members shared that weight loss is also common during flares, often triggered by severe pain, stress, nausea, loss of appetite, or medication withdrawals, with some losing significant amounts in short periods. A recurring theme was that fibromyalgia affects everyone differently, and understanding whether medication side effects or symptom-related eating changes are driving weight fluctuations helps members better manage their health.

It is only true because you are unable to do what you used to to burn the calories. You could cut your calories, but a slug burns more calories than I do anymore.

I've lost weight, due to withdrawal from medication which I've had side effects from. I've also lost weight because of stress and other health issues. The past 2 years have been very hard x

Nausea and lack of appetite. I suffer from these and had no idea it was related to the fibro. Good to know.
