I too have this condition. I at first thought it was my hip and arthritis. I had an x-ray which did come out positive as arthritis. The Dr.s office I go to hired a new Dr. which also added that I have bursitis. A cortisone injection was given which only helped a few day's. At least we are on the right track.

I have it in my right leg but now it also goes right down my leg My rheumatologist sent me for an MRI on my back cause he says it stems from that. I have spoken with my family doctor about the results but not my rheumatologist and it seems he may have been right!

This is how my pain began and it did not show up on x-rays. Finally I had a contrast MRI (I think they call it MRA) of my hip, and I had a torn labral. They eventually did laser surgery on it, but I had to have it done twice because of scar tissue. I still have issues so I don't think I would recommend surgery if you are getting better with the pool p.t. That was what helped mine the most also. I never did try acupuncture.

Yes I have had pain any where possible. Besides my pain meds I am usually sitting on my heating pad when ever possible.
