Ok so I have bad knees. The specialist did a prp to both of them, which is taking my blood, spinning it to get the platelets out and then inject that
into my knees (very painful). That didn't really work so he injected cortisone in both knees which helped for a couple days but now my knees seem to be worse then they were in the first place Now he wants to put a camera in my knees and inject high concentrate platelets in the areas that need it. He wants to take bone marrow from my hip because… read more

Members rallied around someone weighing an invasive knee procedure involving bone marrow extraction and cameras after previous treatments failed, with most strongly encouraging a second opinion and questioning whether the aggressive approach was necessary or potentially exploitative. Several members shared their own knee journeys, including cortisone injections that provided temporary relief, knee replacements that dramatically improved mobility, and alternative approaches like acupuncture, essential oils, heat therapy, and Voltaren gel that offered more manageable results without surgical risk. A recurring theme was trusting your gut when something feels too extreme, advocating fiercely for yourself with medical providers, and remembering that simpler, less invasive options are often worth trying first before committing to procedures that may cause more harm than healing.

I also have EDS which is a connective tissue disorder, I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia and then they realize that I had hypermobility and that I actually have EDS and fibromyalgia, my point is there are a number people that are diagnosed with fibromyalgia that have EDS and EDS needs to be treated differently because certain treatments can make you worse like I had surgery on my shoulder and it's not healing right ect

I think I would get a second opinion to see if this doctor is just making money off of you. Have they done an x-ray or MRI to see how bad your knees are? I had both of mine replaced. They are much better now.

Angela, I'm not sure what way they do things were you live but I was on a walking frame bent over and could't walk more than 100yds mine was so so bad the knees had just crumbled and had no wall to hold on to so I had no option, but to get the 2 knees replaced, I did get the cortisone injections but like you say when your in that much pain there not going to really help you. Personally my opinion I don't understand why they are going to put you thru all that and in the end you still might need new knees, I would either speak to them again and say you would feel better if they would consider replacement, or getting a 2nd opinion, It's not even a year gone and I'm walking and doing aqua aerobics I don't know myself, that's one part of me that I can clearly say is done, and no pain from the actually knees but still can get Fibro everywhere.... The best of luck with what ever you do if I can help with anything else pls ask, Good Luck xx :-)

Listening to different opinions I think I'm going to pass this up for now. If it gets to the point where I can't walk, well maybe then. Thanks everyone.
