Members shared mixed experiences about running fevers during fibromyalgia flares, with some reporting low-grade fevers (99-100°F) as a recurring symptom while others suggested temperatures of 101°F or higher might indicate the flu or another illness rather than fibro alone. Several members described feeling feverish or experiencing fluctuating body temperatures during flares even without confirmed measurements, with one member noting prolonged fevers up to 102°F that left them exhausted and struggling to function for months. A recurring theme was the importance of not attributing every symptom to fibromyalgia, encouraging members to consider other possible causes, take fever-reducing medication when needed, and seek medical guidance when symptoms seem severe or unexplained.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Interesting stuff. I do occasionally wonder about the reasons why in an age where medicine and healthcare (and the scientific knowledge and awareness of the causes and preventions of many things) we have a prevalence of illnesses and diseases that we know so much about and, contrary to much of popular opinion, have been known and documented for a very long time... and I don't think the easier communications and access to information and data we have in the modern world account for that entirely. Cancer is a good example of this... it's always been around, 'consumption' is documented as far back as ancient times... yet the rates we have now can't be explained with just smoking and eating the wrong things. It's known that genetics, body chemistry and a plethora of different pollutants that we've raised from their natural levels or introduced entirely are all causes. But what about other ills? Do they matter?
I think the short explanation is the human race has been up to things for centuries that are affecting us now in ways we didn't consider or even have the scientific ability to discover when the process began... and it's become one hell of a Gordian knot tying up the human condition and experience... and similar to so many issues that plague the world and it's people there's no one or system putting in a concerted effort to unravel it.

Is this related to the part of the brain? CNS system that regulates our hunger, thirst and temperature? The brain is out of whack. Hmm. I am looking into why.... Could someone s cause be from too much exposure to positive ions... Hospital tests, CT scans, x-rays that have gamma rays, beta rays or alpha rays causing the damage to the muscle tissue. Even IVP's??? Everyone is different, but once the exposure and damage of the invisible rays, now what, it effects only the CNS brain and spinal cord, and the flare-ups, are triggered via weather changes too, due to increased levels of positive ions in the air. If this was the cause for some of us, how do we get rid of the excess exposure to bring about a cure. Doc's treat your pain, that is a symptom. What is the root cause of this Fibro?? Has the damage already been done to our cells that makes this condition chronic?? A lot of us on the site have had serious injuries, and the health care profession uses diagnostic tests to help fix our problem, but could they inadvertently cause a new disorder. the first recorded case of Fibromyalgia documented was after the x-ray machine was invented. Florence Nightingale suffered from this till she died, she was a nurse during the time the x-ray machine was invented. Although excited about the discovery of the use of the equipment to diagnosis those with lung infections it also has led to a side effect of a new disorder. this is a question I have been looking into and is only a theory as to a probable cause for some of us... I am trying to get a break through in the cause so as to come up with the solution for a cure. Who wants to live with chronic pain the rest of their lives, this is a symptom we are treating here.. Please share for those who keep on thinking about this issue....There are many causes and many cures for this disorder.

I do... I feel somewhat feverish quite a lot of the time... I understand that this is a 'Fibro thing'. At best it's like I've a cold or flu, at worst... something else (I'd explain but I think you'd need experience of altered states to understand)... and with the feel of fluctuating body temps and varying tolerances to ambient temps (a mess in other words) but I've never actually monitored my temperature to see if it is an actual real phenomenon or just feels like it. Flares are of course the times when I feel the above with greater intensity.
As I have said before, if somebody had posited Fibro and all it's quirks to me a few years ago I'd have thought they were pulling my leg...

Sometimes I run a fever but never that high. Might be a flu of sorts and not Fibro or both at the same time. Take something to lower your fever. Gentle hugs and God bless

Yes! I experienced them for over a couple months! The doctor didn't know where they were coming from. They would go up to 102 and I was on so many different antibiotics and I was so tired and couldn't function for at all during that time. I was so tried and felt like someone ran me over with a truck. This comes and goes all the time. I hope they find a cure for this, this is ruining my life! People think that you look like you are ok on the outside but you are in so much pain on the inside. I try not to complain and put on a smile when I am hurting so bad. To them I am may not look like I am hurting, I just try not to burden anyone with it.
