Members reflected on the question of whether being introverted or a homebody contributed to their fibromyalgia, with many clarifying that they were actually extroverts and socially active before the condition forced them to stay home due to pain, fatigue, and difficulty with simple activities like shopping or driving. Several members described how fibromyalgia has drastically reduced their social lives, with many now only leaving home for doctor appointments and groceries, and some expressing deep loneliness as friendships faded and social groups disappeared. A recurring theme was the painful irony of becoming homebound not by choice but by necessity, with members grieving the loss of their former active lives while trying to find contentment in their new, more isolated reality.

I was social too. I am definitely more of a extrovert than introvert. This Fibro really has done a number on me. It just doe not fit the right person. I have now, due to this issue become well I hate to say it, a homebody. I don't like this Fibro, I am missing all the Fun out there.

It has definately made a difference for me. When I could work I went to the gym and worked out 3 tim es a week and went out a couple times a week. As the fibro got worse I stayed home more and now only go for dr. appts. and groceries. At one point there was a support group that met here in Racine but it faded away and as usual I can'tremember why. I do go occassionally with y daughter to shop just to get out but am happy here at home, alone, anymore. Fibro definitely put a kink in my social life.

Thanks for your feed back. Sorry to hear about your vehicle accident resulting in Fibromyalgia. I turned a car over on it's top, in 1995, on ice, but the Fibro. had already begun on me, with both my older brother and sister also having it. We are forced to be homebodies with this painful condition. I am sending positive thoughts your way, that you will have many, pain free days ahead. Take care.

I'm lucky if I get out once a week. When I go to a store, just the driving, walking around the store, driving home, carrying the groceries in and putting the away, I'm sore and done for the day. You become a homebody, introvert because the pain keeps you home.

The fibro didn't slow me down much it wasn't until I had 2 heart attacks in 18 months that I really slowed down some.
