I am very interested in finding out what types of meds has anyone been on for pain & pain management. I'm really interested in hearing about anyone's experience with taking Methadone for pain & whether it was a positive or a negative experience. I would really appreciate any information that anyone would share with me! Thanks
I have taken Methadone for years for the Fibro as well as for my back and other issues. I agree that coming off of it is a horrible experience, however if you have a good Dr., you will be weaned slowly and they will give you another medicine to help you through it. It has helped me with the pain, as well as with the energy that is depleted by having Fibro. You do however need to be under the care of a very good Dr and understand the other meds that you are taking. Do not be the type of person that thinks they can take an extra of something here or there and it won't hurt. As with all opiods these are and can be dangerous. It effects everyone differently. Myself, I don't get a different attitude, as in I am just not in as much pain and can carry on a halfway normal life. However, I have seen the downside of what some people it has the opposite effect on. Just be careful and do your homework, listen to your body and do what is best for you. You know your body better than anyone else, even your Drs.
I was put on methadone before I was Dx with fibro. My advice- DO NOT TAKE IT, it's like a long lasting morphine and if on it for too long can change your personality as did mind also did not help that much, the worst part was the withdrawal--was so bad made me want to die. In all honesty being on long term opioids/narcs do not help fibro pain and I would avoid them
i would avoid methadone at all costs.it is very addictive and withdrawal is worse than heroin
I am in severe and constant pain. I take 5/325 oxy/tylenol, ibrofuen, methocarbanol, and venaflax. But really I dont even know if it works because I still hurt all the time. It is 4 am here and havent been able to sleep yet. My leg is just throbbing!
I use oxycodon 200 mg a day
