Chest Pains
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is it only me or does anyone else get really bad chest pain. Struggling to breathe. Almost fighting against yourself for any form of deep breathe as if something heavy is on your chest??? X

I have the same issue. Thought it was fibro but fibro doesn't cause inflammation. Did some research online and there is a condition called costochondritis. A lot of us with fibro have it but isn't part of it. Hope this helps😊

I get pain through my esophagus due to GERD and gas.I thought at first that I was having a heart attack, but if I drank something the pain went away.It usually happens at night or wakes me up early.Be careful, though, if the chest pain radiates down your arm, feel dizzy or short of breath don't hesitate to call 911.I know at times we don't know if it's fibro or something else.Women can have very different symptoms of a heart attack than men.I discovered this working in the ER.

Yes I have it often and as mentioned it's called chondrites and can feel like your having a heart attack. I had a bad bought in my early days and found myself in a crash room in a standing up bed with lots of electrodes attached to me and about eight staff. I think because I had tingles down my arm and chest pains both classic signs of heart attack but both symptoms of my fibro too. All I can do is lie down take even breaths and try to calm myself perhaps listen to chillout music or meditate. I also have diazipam for Restless Leg Syndrome but can also help calm and relax muscles. It can be very scary and if you are in any doubt, intense pain or short of breath I would go to A&E pronto.
