Members overwhelmingly attributed the morning confusion described in response to a recent gabapentin increase to 2400mg daily to the medication itself, with many sharing their own experiences of memory loss, brain fog, difficulty speaking, and adjustment periods lasting days to weeks after dosage changes. Several members offered practical guidance, including calling the doctor to rule out serious reactions, consulting a pharmacist about the timeline for the body to adapt, not stopping the medication abruptly without medical supervision, and exploring alternative medications like pregabalin, venlafaxine, or non-chemical approaches if side effects remain intolerable. A recurring theme was validation that confusion and forgetfulness are common and often temporary gabapentin side effects, balanced with gentle warnings about withdrawal risks and the importance of working closely with a healthcare provider to find the right balance between symptom relief and quality of life.

I am on Effexor for depression, and I was recently denied my refill at mental health because I accidentally missed my appointment. The withdrawal from this medication is the worst that I have ever been through in my life! I was a junky and overcame a meth addiction and the withdrawal didn't even begin to compare to that of the Effexor! I suggest that before anyone starts any kind of new medication- do your homework- find out what the side effects and withdrawals are like? You might surely be very glad you did!

I was offered gabapentin and amitriptyline for the symptims that prevent me working - brain fog and fatigue. Side effects of these drugs are brain fog and fatigue!
I am using a non chemical regime ,except for naproxen , and it has changed my mood and energy levels significantly

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm sorry you had to go thru that. I went thru a similar experience with @ Cymbalta. I'm sure people on this site get tired of seeing me post warnings about these drugs. People need to know the dangers
