Members shared mixed experiences with gabapentin and anxiety, with some reporting increased anxiety when starting the medication while others found it helpful for managing both nerve pain and anxiety symptoms. Several members described initial side effects like feeling off, shaky, or stoned that subsided after a couple of weeks, though one member experienced permanent hearing loss. A recurring theme was the importance of talking to doctors about side effects, with members noting that gabapentin affects everyone differently and that starting doses are typically low, so patience and medical guidance are key to finding what works.

I don't have that problem and I've been on Gabapentin twice I went of it to give my body a break and I've never had anxiety from it

I just cant function with anxiety like that. Im shakey, everything irritates me and I end up in tears and end up emotionally paralyzed and I cant do anything

It can increase anxiety, check the side effects list. Not everyone can take it. 100 is a really low dose, so I would stop until you see someone.

My physiatrist prescribed me gabapentin for my anxiety so I don't think that's the problem but it could be some kind of reaction..talk to your Dr about it

I saw my psychiatrist on Tuesday and he said it is a pain reliever for nerve pain. He takes it himself. I find that if I'm taking my Gabapentin, it helps with my anxiety, not always. I have to take Xanex too but I usually save that for when I'm bad.
