Ok so this isn't really a question ... but I guess I will be asking something at the end. Opinions.

Last night I fell again. But
This was the first time I fell off the toilet ( this image will probably make you laugh or at least smile)
So I needed to pee so I sat on the toilet before I could "go" I coughed and got extremely dizzy so I tried to steady myself holding the wall and the sink... nope that didn't work. Thank God I didn't fall forward otherwise I would have hit the cast-iron clawfoot… read more

Members rallied around someone who fell off the toilet due to sudden dizziness and syncope, praising her husband's loving response while urging her to keep a detailed journal tracking activities, food, and circumstances before each episode to identify potential triggers. Several members shared their own experiences with falls and balance issues related to fibromyalgia, with practical suggestions including using a cane at home for safety, getting evaluated for vertigo or inner ear problems, and considering a functional medicine doctor who investigates root causes rather than just prescribing medications. A recurring theme was the community's genuine concern for her safety, the acknowledgment that falls are frighteningly common among members, and the encouragement to keep advocating for answers while taking precautions to prevent serious injury.

Have you been to a functional doctor yet? I gave up on traditional doctors, all they do is slap a label on me (fibro, lupus, sjorgrens etc.) and want me to take several medications. I've only been to one appointment with the functonal Doctor but have not been back for all the results. They look for the root of the problem, she took several blood tests that non of my other doctors did. She even had me take a 3 day stool test because I've had IBS for over 20 years. My next appointment isn't until January 12th, I'm really hoping I will get some answers. She did put me on an elimination diet, I can't have dairy, eggs, corn, processed meats, gluten, beef, pork, soy, caffeine, coffee, tea, chocolate, alcohol ...I'm sure I forgot a few. I'm disappointed with the results though, I've been very good not to eat any of those things. I spent a small fortune on food for this diet and there hasn't been ANY change in my health or stomach.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, Yes there are triggers for syncope. They might be so small that you don't put the pieces together right away. I'm sure since you have been to the doc before about this that they have ruled out anything that has to do with your heart or chronic low blood pressure. If you can figure out what triggers it, you can maybe prevent some occurrences. Journaling is a great way to figure these things out.
I used this method when I first starting having fibro symptoms a year before I was diagnosed. I thought maybe it was diet related, or sleep related, or stress related. I did such a good job keeping track of what I did and ate every day that by the time I went to the doctor I had ruled out everything else that could have been wrong. I had narrowed it down to three things and one of them was fibro.
Just be open to the possibility that you have triggers and write things down!
And hey, tell that wonderful husband of yours job well done! He's your angel. I' so worried about you hurting yourself. Don't give up on finding the answer. Please be safe.

Have you been checked for tinnitus or ear infections? This will lead to imbalance and falling over.It can be kept in control with tablets, one a day.

OH my, your lucky you didn't break anything. I bet you will be sore for a while. I always feel off balance but have been fortunate that I haven't fallen. Gentle hugs and prayers for you. Take care.
