Do people with fibromyalgia seem to have worse bouts of colds and flus as I have had a sore throat for about 2 weeks and was wondering if they are linked?

Thanks

Members overwhelmingly confirmed that people with fibromyalgia often experience more frequent and prolonged colds and flu, attributing this to weakened immune systems and the overlapping symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Several members shared practical strategies that helped reduce their illness frequency, including taking regular magnesium and zinc supplements, checking vitamin D levels, and recognizing that persistent sore throats and swollen glands can be direct symptoms of fibromyalgia itself rather than just recurrent infections. A recurring theme was the frustration of longer recovery times and flu-like symptoms that seem never-ending, balanced by the relief of knowing others in the community share these challenges and have found ways to manage them.

A long-term sore throat, often with swollen glands, is a common symptom of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - as is Fibromyalgia. When I first acquired CFS/FM, I had a sore throat nearly every day for 3 years.

Yeah, I think after today I have a virus in my throat! Was feeling very queasy and light headed earlier. Couldn't stop shaking

Yes we do have more colds, flu etc because of having weaker immune systems. I often feel like this.

I always find that if I get a cold or flu it takes way longer for me to recover and it knocks me so bad. Not sure if it's the fibro or whether I have a really bad immune system.
