I keep getting extremely painful Charlie horses I was wondering if this is common or am I missing something that is causing them?
All good answers...I also take magnesium daily which has helped
Charlie horses are usually caused by a potassium deficiency. Have your levels checked...also maybe try a vitamin or eat a banana daily.
Common for me- but maybe a blood test to see if you are deficient in a mineral or vitamin?
I don't get them but my husband does. Magnesium helps a lot. Look for magnesium MALATE. I take that for the fibromyalgia but it also helps with charley horse pain. When my husband takes it or a while he doesn't get them but he starts forgetting and then he will wake up cursing in the middle of the night. I hate waking up that way so I insist he take them. I buy smaller bottles and put them everywhere to remind him - by the bed, in the bathroom by his toothbrush and one for him to take to work. It may not be 1st hand experience for this but I can tell you it works because I don't get traumatized as much in the middle of the night.
Yes it's common h2o is the best defense but there are meds that may help a little as well . I usually just walk them off .
