Eczema
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is there a connection between fibromyalgia and Eczema?

My GP has just told me I know have Eczema, just another to add to the long list of problems.

I itch really bad, but thought it was down to starting Gabapentin but then was put on an antihistamine for hayfever and it seemed to be controlled, and it would flare up every now and again. But just recently has constantly flared.

I've been given 2 things to put on it, a cream and an ointment so will see what happens now

Honey I had eczema many years ago and used many different things for it to stop itching. Then it would start up after that and I would find something else that would work better than what I used the first time. I as far as I knew did not have fibro. I noticed it again in July of this year and I do have fibro. I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula with vitamin E and it for me works really good for the itching.

I never broke out until 6 months after my mom passed away. I was covered.Years later, I was told that it's a stress response. Obviously fibromyalgia is really stressing the system. My son has FM but hasn't had an eczema flare even though it goes hand in hand with asthma and he also had mild eczema as a child.

I never had eczema until about 5 years ago it gets better then will flare up and even covers my scalp I used prescription creams and ointments but they didn't really help I hate it but T hell shampoo really helped my scalp but it is hard on your hair & I used a otc cream recommended by my pharmacist and it was better than the prescription meds it was just hydrocortisone cream

Thanks for all your answers. I will be reading up in it later tonight.
Hope you get sorted @A MyFibroTeam Member
I've started the ointment already do hoping to see an improvement soon. I see my dermatologist again in a few weeks so will be mentioning it to him as well, see what advice he can give, especially if it's not cleared up x

I have suffered from psorisis for many years from 15 years to 24. It reared its ugly self again in my mid 40's but I could control it with creams from GP. 5 years ago it went out of control and even dermatologist could not give a cream or treatment that would clear it for more than 7-10 days. I started with it on hands and elbows and itches that it drives me insane and difficult not to scratch like mad, then it bleeds and the viscous circle never ends. Now like @A MyFibroTeam Member mentioned I have it in both ears!!! Its horrible constantly have like a tingling sensation in ears and skin thickens and flakes. So bad yesterday had to give in and go to doctors so have been given a spray to diret into ear canal and antibiotics as rest of psorisis infected. One little tip I was told to help outer ear from breaking out / getting worse is to carefully use vaseline on a cotton bud just before going to bed. What a todo??? I definitely think it is connected to Fibromyalgia because I eventually got diagnosed almost two years ago after saying to doctors than my pain changed for the worse and so on the story goes like most of you all. Xx
