Muscle Locks
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Was wondering if anyone experience different parts of the body that locks up on them. I'm getting it more frequently. MY hands will lock up and I can't move them. my wrist and for arm locked where I couldn't bend or move my hand, same thing in my neck, face, legs, feet , well pretty much everywhere. I know muscle spasms are part of fibro but what about this?

@ muscle locks
If you would consider these "locks" as "spasms", then the rx for that is cyclobenzaprine (flexeril).
Otherwise I would have the doctor check this as an "unrelated" symptom. We have to be careful not to just lump every symptom under Fibro.
I agree with the magnesium supplements. also mega dose vitamin D. 1000 - 2000 per day. Apparently, "bone" pain can be caused by low vitamin D. Who knew?
take care

I take a magnesium citrate tablet with each meal. I also rub magnesium oil on those knots and they vanish. If you start using magnesium citrate pills, start slowly as they can cause loose bowel movements. If this happens add a probiotic to each meal as well and the diarrhea will stop. I started with 250 mg once a day for a week and then slowly added a pill to a meal every week or two. I am currently on 500 mg four times a day and probiotics and the difference is truly amazing. This has been my life saver. My legs would knot so bad that I could not walk, couldn't sleep more than an hour. I can walk around my block, sleep 3-4 hours at a time(have other problems that wake me), hold things in my hands for a spell and work an 8 hour shift at work. I also do gentle stretches throughout the day. The knots are barely there anymore. Hope this helps.

sorry to say, I have the same proplems now, it is a flair up, ui cannot say to often, if you can are able to take hot bath with bath salts, Gatorade not recommended, just plain water, and ensure, and lots of heat.

I have this problem. With me, it is muscular not joint pain. I have found that magnesium supplements and increased electrolytes (e.g., Gatorade) help.
