Fibromyalgia And Severe Lower Back Pain
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone
Anyway I have a question to ask. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia plus a lot more issues a year ago. I believe I have had it way longer. After years of going to my doctor regarding my pain she finally sent me to a specialist. After all the test and jumping threw all their hoops I am still in severe pain. It has gotten worse with my age. I have severe lower back pain, It is so severe I now have to walk with a cane. I am unable to clean or stand for longer than 10 minutes before… read more

You sound just like me. I hurt all the time. My back just feels like it is getting worse each day. I had laser surgery to remove a bulging disk and I was hoping that would help, but my back only got worse. Now like you I cannot stand for long periods of time, sit for long periods of time or even lay without tossing and turning for long periods of time. I have had steroid injections (didn't work), I had Radio Frequency ablations several times (did not work) and now I am being tested to see if a electrical stimulator will work. I will let you know. The doctor describes it as the pain does not go away, but the electricity it shoots into the muscle tricks the brain into believing its not there. So at this point I am desperate. I hope you find something that works for you as well. Fibro is the worst thing I have ever gone through. But God is in control and he will not put anything in my path that I cannot handle....Right?

Love you my friend,
BF

I have bad lower back pain due to crushed vertebrae which gives me sciatica on top of that I have neuropathy in my feet. I've had injections in my back and have worked up to last one where pain in legs eased but pain in back and every where else the pain has increased I take baclofen, sevredol diazepam and paracetamol also gabepentin for pain.

I'd say about back surgery:Research the Dr's track record, don't just take his word for how successful his surgeries are. Also, look into other options if you can afford them, one is the Laser Spine Institute which is supposed to be awesome!Don't know from personal experience but my Primary Care Dr spoke highly of them long before they came to the area I live in.I'd already gotten screwed up by having my low back fused and having to get all of the hardware removed the following year due to my body rejecting the metal leading to even more neuropathy! So not good.I've had a neurostimulator since 2003,replaced in '06 and had just the internal battery replaced in 2012 which I feel was a big mistake as my neurostim isn't working half as well as it was before they just changed the battery!!When it's working properly, this neurostim is a Godsend as its only purpose is to block pain signals from reaching your brain.I love it when it's working properly!!Think it's going to have to be changed, entire system, very soon as I'm not getting nearly as much relief as I was before the battery change in 2012.I'd rather have this working properly than to be taking tons of pain meds.I do take MS Contin twice a day and Valium 5mg up to 4x a day for muscle spasms. This is a lot less than I was taking yrs ago and I hope to never go back to all of that!

I was going to a therapy swimming pool!! That helped a lot until you get out and gravity hits you!! It did help a lot plus the water temperature was 93 degrees!! Plus get massages & Chiroprator!! Then summer came and my pain wasn't as bad as it is now! Change of weather and the berimetic pressure is killing me right now!! So I got to do the things I told you about again! I hope I have helped you!!
Take care!! I have days I can't stand on my feet cuz they hurt and my lower back& my neck!!
