So the fibromyalgia diet hasn't changed my symptoms at all. I've been on it for 6 months. My dr wants me to try the low carb diet. Less than 20 carbs per day. Has anyone tried the low carb diet? Did it help your symptoms?

Members shared mixed experiences with low-carb and other dietary approaches for fibromyalgia, with most reporting that while eliminating sugar and processed foods sometimes reduced inflammation or boosted energy, no single diet consistently relieved pain or core symptoms. Several members described trying multiple restrictive plans including gluten-free, vegan, paleo, GAPS, and keto, with some finding modest benefits like weight loss, improved mobility, or reduced medication needs, while others experienced no change or even side effects like hair loss. A recurring theme was the importance of individualizing food choices based on personal triggers and body signals, with many members emphasizing that managing stress, staying hydrated, and finding what feels good emotionally can matter just as much as strict dietary rules.

I talked to a clinical pharmacologic and she said there's no documented proof that changing your diet helps. I tried too and it didn't work. This illness has taken so much from me I'm not going to let it take my love for food away too if it doesn't help. I'm sure it's different for everyone thou8

I've found some foods irritate me since I went on meds but diet wise I eat what I fancy if I'm happy and relaxed that helps much more with managing pain xxx sometimes we just have to do what feels good and not worry about things we can't control xx πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

Limiting sugar has big impact on my pain.when I drink enough water and,eat well fresh fruits and vegtables. Nothing processed I feel alot better. Last few months haven't been doing that and I'm struggling. It does help "we are what we eat"

I tried low carb - does help lose weight but didn't help with pain. I look at it that if I lose weight, I will feel better in many different ways, so I'm trying again. Someone on this site told me gluten-free works for them, but it didn't work for me. I think you have to individualize a treatment plant.
