Members rallied around someone newly diagnosed with migraines, sharing a wealth of remedies that have helped them manage the debilitating pain, light sensitivity, and facial pressure. Several members described practical strategies including retreating to a dark quiet room with caffeine or Excedrin Migraine, using cold or warm compresses on the eyes and neck, applying peppermint or lavender essential oils to temples, staying well-hydrated with water or Gatorade, and taking prescription medications like Imitrex or Fioricet when over-the-counter options fail. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of migraines, with members emphasizing the importance of experimenting to find what works best for you, avoiding common triggers like MSG and processed foods, consulting a neurologist for preventative treatments or nerve blocks, and advocating with insurance companies when medication limits interfere with necessary care.

Ive been told msg is a huge trigger. Its in alot dressings and sauces. Organic stuff doesn't have it.
Even mayo packets. Im alot more selective when i go to the store. A friend told me if u dont know whats in it dont eat it.

@A MyFibroTeam Member,
I just remembered something else. A family friend told me she started taking magnesium for her migraines so I did too. It took a couple months but it did help for awhile. My body is weird but it helped our friend so it might help you too. Just a thought.

First lavender oil helps on temples go to a HOMEOPATHIC store find a beaded shoulder wrap shaped to fit over ur neck n shoulders inside they put oils n herbs that when u heat it up in micro they help sooth ur migraines n pains many times I cried myself til I passed out from using that thing very useful, also Yogi Stress relief tea.. Massages do help I sit in my shower chair just let water run over my neck and shoulders, dark room get gooooood heating pad not the kind with plastic insert I find laying that so it's at base my head going down my shoulders soothes me some times.. It's hard very very hard these are allllll tricks I use before I go to Er after all these things if I'm still unable to see n move they need to inject me.... I live this way day in and out 24/7 they never go away.... Just waiting pain relief hoping soon they don't even stop with pain meds just makes then tolerable... Oh and one thing I found actually been great at helping maintain pressure when in that room is my HIMALAYAN ROCK SALT LAMPS, they are fantastic really.. Good luck hope some thing in here helps yea

I have to agree with Angela dedicatedWhite. The only thing that helps me is caffeine and darkness and Excedrine Migraine. I have a doctor's appointment today and that is the only reason I am out.

When I have them, nothing but caffeine and a dark quiet room helps me.
