I have become so still and achy since the weather has turned cold. I type to help keep my fingers limber but too much typing will increase the achyness in my hands. I Fibro aches and pains always gets worse in cold weather. Is there anything I can do to help alleviate at least some of my aches and pains? My Lyrica has a hard time working this time of year. Thank you all for your help. God Bless! Many hugs
Yes I definitely get worse in the cold, damp weather. I live on the water and really hate it in the winter. The only thing that has helped me was a trip to Vegas. The heat is hot and dry such a difference.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, A thought: This Winter, try wearing a mask (like they use in the hospital) over your face when going out.
Whenever we breathe, that cold air goes into our bodies, causing all kinds of havoc. Especially when it's ice cold! We can get *very small crystals of frozen ice into *our lungs. Just like we can *control what we eat or drink (hot or cold), we need to "be aware of the air." **Remember. The air is no longer "fresh air," like when I was a kid. And we had polluters back then (1950's). Companies spew out chemicals into the air every day! When I was a kid, every day around 5p.m., there would be a very heavy smell. To be truthful, it smelled like a BIG "Poot!" Lasted for some time. People *(in the country) would say: "It's *Dupont." Although the knowledge never did get rid of the stink, knowing what was causing this did help. Even so, I sometimes wonder how many people have been affected because of *Dupont releasing their stinky chemicals into the air.
Today, we have SO Many 18 wheelers on the highway! The fumes from them are terrible! People driving their vehicles with the same problem. Even gas fumes! Many times in the *HOT Summer, we have to turn off the AC for a bit because of a truck in front of us is supplied with *Diesel fuel. Or the gasoline fumes from their vehicle are potent. And let's not forget *Natural Gas. It's "a killer." Thankfully, we have an electric stove. And the *Natural Gas that supplies heat to the water in washroom. Almost always, the door to washroom is closed when not in use. Restaurants are a BIG problem. (?) Ever been by (or near) a BBQ restaurant, seeing a lot of smoke coming from the vents? Even *Burger King and *Hardees were terrible!
It's no telling what chemicals that airplanes, jets and Helecopters release into the air--24/7.
Just a few examples of things making us *more sick. Hold on, Fibro Warrior. We will fight this battle together.
In the cold yes always
Hugs
