A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been currently prescribed baclofen and tylenol/codein. New pain dr took me off hydrocodon 10mg and replaced with these new medicines. I have no relief of pain now... have yall tried these meds and did they help?

Members shared mixed experiences with baclofen and codeine-based medications for pain management, with several reporting that neither provided adequate relief and some describing allergic reactions or stomach issues with codeine. Many community members described alternative approaches that have worked for them, including tramadol, muscle relaxants like Robaxin, oxycodone for breakthrough pain, and supplement combinations such as MSM and D-Ribose alongside gentle exercise like Tai Chi. A recurring theme was the frustration of finding effective pain relief while navigating medication changes, side effects, and concerns about liver health from long-term use.

I gave up on Rx pain meds as they only made things worse so am taking 1,000 mg of MSM three times a day plus D-Ribose once a day. Aleve if I am in too much pain. I try to do some T'ai Chi every day as that helps me out a lot as it is gentle stretches and moves. I have had bouts of deep pain that put me to bed with a heating pad.

MSM and D-Ribose are from a Health Food store or some are at Trader Joes. Jarrows is a good brand.

MSM has a long name which I have forgotten about. both were suggested by an MD who was more into supplements than Rxs but he succumbed to cancer and took the standard treatment????? He knew that Rx meds were full of side effects for me that were worse than the problem. I always have some pain but minimal if I take care of myself. Hope this helps.

I didn't get any relief either from Tylenol with codein and it really didn't agree with my stomach so I have been on Oxy's for years and they are the only thing I get relief with!

I had been on Baclonfen for years but when I started pain management they switched me to Robaxin and I am allergic to codeine so I use Lortab for breakthrough pain.
