Members shared a variety of strategies for managing the overwhelming afternoon fatigue that comes with chronic illness, with many emphasizing that sometimes rest is simply unavoidable and napping becomes a necessary part of the day. Several members offered practical approaches, including taking vitamin B12 or vitamin D supplements, setting alarms for short power naps during lunch breaks or in recliners, keeping busy with gentle activities like embroidery or sewing, taking brief walks even when energy is low, and checking iron levels for anemia. A recurring theme was the frustration of needing to sleep for hours just to function through the rest of the day, balanced with the acceptance that listening to your body and giving yourself permission to rest without guilt is essential for making it through.

I usually "try" to take a walk. Most times it's me doing the "Zombie Shuffle" around the block. Insomnia and fatigue have been really hard for me to combat also. It is a hard question to answer because we react differently to different things. I'm sorry.

I try and keep myself lo f busy with a fairly sedentary activity such as embroidery or sewing while listening to the radio or watching something I love. Sometimes I fall asleep and other times I don't. I try not to drink caffeine past 4pm (due to a heart condition) . At this time of year into winter it's important to make sure you have enough vitamin D in your system. I take supplements twice a day which does help a lot.
Sometimes you just have to have a nap!
