Members shared varied approaches to answering the common question of how they're feeling, with most agreeing that the response depends heavily on who's asking and whether that person truly wants to know or is simply making polite conversation. Several members suggested honest but brief responses like 'I could be better,' 'I'm having a bad day,' or 'I'm not firing on all cylinders,' while others recommended creative metaphors such as feeling like they just had major surgery yesterday or like a sumo wrestler is tap dancing on their back. A recurring theme was the tension between wanting to raise awareness and educate others about fibromyalgia versus protecting emotional energy by not dwelling on symptoms, with many members reserving full honesty for close friends and family who truly understand while offering simple 'I'm OK' responses to acquaintances.

Be honest. We as FIBRO warriors need to raise awareness about the illness and let people know what it is and how we cope. So that means go on the walks for chronic illness and post info all over social media so that people know and aren't so clueless anymore

If they know you have fibromyalgia then answer honestly and if they don't know then just provide the usual polite answer. I prefer the honest answer because fibromyalgia is so misunderstood. I like to get the word out there to educate.

Some of my close friends can actually tell when I'm not feeling well, especially when I get that overbearing fatigue. So if we are out doing something she just says, "Okay, time to go home." and I am appreciative.

I just say I'm feeling ok, or I'm good, cuz, I don't think people are really interested in how you really feel... They are just making conversation...

I talked to slot of ppl in physical therapy n they have for the most part heard about it n can't believe I'm there working out. N that I don't know how we do it. I think a lot more ppl know n understand just kinda go with the flow of others. Thanks everyone ๐Ÿ’œ
